Social and educational systems must be designed in such a manner that creativity and values are nurtured along with knowledge. CREATE is meeting the research challenge to determine the features and applications which can lead to such types of phased transformation through educational technologies. The solution of these problems requires an interdisciplinary approach that draws upon expertise in the physical, biological, statistical and social sciences. CREATE has assembled a multidisciplinary team with these factors in mind.
AMRITA CREATE applies innovative digital solutions to provide accessible and affordable educational technologies for all. It aims to improve the quality of education using innovative solutions that integrate research and practice. Towards this, the center strives to advance research on innovative pedagogy, architectural frameworks and through the implementation of both e-Learning and m-Learning systems with an emphasis on personalized assessment and learning. A new research focus area is modelling approaches for the diffusion of Personalised Learning as an educational innovation. The ongoing research aims to measure individual and collaborative learning in STEM and language learning skills with the aid of data mining and visualisation of big learning data.
Amrita Learning Equality in Education
Amrita Learning Equality in Education is an initiative of Amrita Create to provide a platform for children with learning disorder to overcome their difficulties in learning.
About 8-12% of children have learning difficulties. Many parents, especially those who reside in villages and small towns, do not have access to remedial interventions to help their children with learning difficulties. Parents play a pivotal role in the development of children with special needs. This initiative empowers parents to deal with learning difficulties.
The activities are grouped under various heads as under:
- Teaching Colours
- Problem Solving
- Word games
- Auditory Activities
- Sentence Games
- Visual Exercises
- Memory & Concentration Exercises
Each activity in these lessons addresses one or more difficulties in learning. Apart from an introduction to the activity, tips for parents are provided on how they can themselves design activities to help their children. The resources section, in each activity, indicates where to look to learn more about teaching and learning strategies.
Worksheets have innovative exercises that facilitate language skills, sentence formation, seeing patterns, better eye-hand coordination, comprehension skills and concentration.
